Deleting your OurPantry account
Account deletion happens inside the app, takes about a minute, and cannot be undone.
How to delete your account
- Open OurPantry on your iPhone and go to the Plan tab.
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner to open Settings.
- Scroll to the Account section at the bottom.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, which tells you whether you are leaving a shared household or deleting the last account in it.
- Tap Delete account permanently.
You will be signed out and returned to the welcome screen. There is no waiting period and no way to recover the account afterwards.
What is removed
What happens to the household's shared history depends on whether anyone else is still in it.
If someone else is still in your household
We remove:
- your account and the profile details we hold from your sign-in;
- your membership of the household;
- your notification and analytics preferences;
- your pending reminders and the push tokens for your devices.
The household keeps working for the other member. Its lists, items, tracked products, shopping history, and receipts stay, because they belong to the household rather than to you alone. Anything that was attributed to you appears as Former household member.
If you were the household's owner, ownership transfers to the remaining member before your account is deleted.
If you are the last member of your household
The household and everything in it is deleted, including:
- the household itself and its settings;
- all shopping lists and the items on them;
- every tracked regular product and its purchase history;
- completed shopping trips, totals, and budgets;
- stored receipt images and their records;
- your preferences, pending reminders, push tokens, membership, and user record.
Your Apple or Google sign-in
Deleting your OurPantry account deletes the account held by our authentication provider. It does not delete your Apple or Google account itself — those are yours and are unaffected.
If you used Sign in with Apple
Deleting the authentication record from Clerk does not, by itself, reset OurPantry's authorisation at Apple. After deleting your OurPantry account, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Sign in with Apple, select OurPantry, then tap Delete and confirm Stop Using. Until you complete this Apple step, the authorisation can remain at Apple even though your active OurPantry account and data have been deleted.
This follows Apple's documented manual-revocation route when an app does not hold the Apple token needed for server-side revocation. See Apple's instructions for managing apps that use Sign in with Apple. It does not delete or otherwise change your Apple Account.
Backups after deletion
The live OurPantry records described above are removed when deletion succeeds. A deleted record can remain temporarily in a backup made before deletion, but it is not available in the app or used for ordinary product activity.
Convex stores manual and daily dashboard backups for 7 days and weekly dashboard backups for 14 days. This means deleted app data can remain in one of those Convex backups for up to 14 days. We do not keep downloaded Convex exports as a separate backup. Convex also maintains encrypted internal disaster-recovery backups, but it does not publish a per-record expiry period for those internal copies.
Clerk removes the active authentication record when account deletion runs, but it does not publish a separate backup period for an individual deleted user. Residual provider copies are access-restricted, unavailable for ordinary use, and governed by the provider's data-protection terms. Clerk's data-processing terms require its remaining customer-data copies to be deleted within 90 days after OurPantry's Clerk service ends; that 90-day commitment is about ending the service, not the deletion time for one user. The privacy policy records the same limits.
If you cannot get into the app
If you have lost the device or cannot sign in, email support@ourpantry.app from the address you use with OurPantry and tell us you want the account deleted.
We will use the minimum information needed to match and verify the account. This will normally mean replying from the account's email address and confirming limited account details; we will not ask for your Apple or Google password. We will acknowledge the request, complete it without undue delay and normally within one month, and confirm when it is done.
If you only want a quieter app
Deleting your account is permanent, so it is worth knowing the smaller options first. In Settings you can turn restock reminders off, change the time they arrive, withdraw analytics consent, or stop tracking an individual product without losing anything else. You can also simply sign out — your household data stays where it is and you can sign back in later.
